UNTRAINED TEACHERS RECEIVE TRAINING IN N/R

The Head of the Northern Regional Education Directorate, Elizabeth De-Souza has expressed disquiet about professional teachers who often decline to accept posting to deprived communities in the area.

According to her, the conduct of such unruly teachers is affecting government’s agenda of promoting quality education at such places.

Madam De-Souza was speaking at the investiture of an estimated 250 volunteer teachers who received professional training at the Bagabaga College of Education in Tamale under the Untrained Teachers Diploma in Basic Education (UTDBE) programme.

The teachers were fully sponsored by Childreach International-Ghana in partnership with the Alliance for Change in Education (ACE).

About10 deaf and dumb Senior High School students were also enrolled for the training this year to assist the Special Schools in Ghana.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Savelugu-Nanton, Prince Mohammed Askia commended Childreach International Ghana for complementing government’s efforts at ensuring increased number of trained teachers in the country.

The Northern Regional Director of Education, Madam Elizabeth De-Souza urged professional teachers who fail to accept posting to the deprived communities to discard such behavior.
