Twenty seven of the accident victims who perished in a fatal accident at Zagyuri, a suburb of Tamale, were on Sunday September 19 laid to rest at the Tamale Central Cemetery at exactly 1: 30 pm.
Only one of the deceased, a chief (name withheld) has been taken to his village for burial in line with the customs and traditions of the Dagbon culture.
Chief Imams, family relations, leadership of political parties and sympathizers bid the deceased farewell as they were laid to join their ancestors.
Issahaku Sualisu, Iliasu Osman and Abdul Ganiyu Ahmed, relatives of some of the deceased told northernghana.com at the cemetery that the tragedy had left an indelible mark on their minds.
Abdul Ganiyu Ahmed stressed the need for the Ghana Police Service in collaboration with the Ghana Road Safety Commission to ban the use of such cargo trucks from carrying people.
Issahaku Sualisu and other good Samaritans later queued at the Tamale Teaching Hospital to donate blood as the Blood Bank announced the shortage of blood. He confirmed that the driver of the accident who reported to the police escaped unhurt.
