METSEC MEMBERS TOUR REGISTRATION CENTRES IN TAMALE

Members of the Tamale Metropolitan Security Committee (METSEC) have toured some centers of the on-going voter registration exercise to calm down tempers following reported incidence of violence at some of the centers which nearly marred the exercise in the Metropolis.

The Aboabo, Zogbeli and the Inter-Royals registration centers were some of the areas visited by members of the METSEC which is under the chairmanship of Alhaji Abudulai Haruna Friday who is also the Mayor of Tamale.

Members of the METSEC urged residence of the Metropolis especially those eligible to register to conduct themselves properly and not do anything to mar the exercise warning that the security agencies would deal drastically with any person or group of persons who will misconduct themselves at any of the centers.

Alhaji Friday and Members of the METSEC later visited the Regional and District Offices of the Electoral Commission to commend them for a good job done so far and also find out some of the challenges they may be facing in respect of the exercise.

Sylvester Kanyi, Northern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission assured METSEC that the Commission has enough materials to see it through the exercise at all the 54 registration centers in the Metropolis saying that ‘they do not envisage any shortage of registration materials till the end of the exercise.’

Mr. Kanyi commended Members of the METSEC for taking upon themselves to monitor the exercise and thanked the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly and all the other Departments for making vehicles available to the Commission for the exercise.
