Bede Officially Takes Over As New N/R Minister

Mr. Moses Mabengba
The outgone Northern Regional Minister Moses Bukari Mabengba, has called on all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) as well as all heads of department and agencies in the region to give an unconditional support to his successor to enable him overcome the myriad of developmental challenges confronting the area.

According to him, the fact that he [Mabengba] was able to over most of the challenges due to the support and cooperation of all MMDCEs, thus making him the longest serving Northern Regional Minister meant that, his successor could also succeed if he was given the same support.

Addressing what was probably his last meeting with MMDCEs and departmental heads in the region and official handing over to the incoming Northern Regional Minister Bede Angwotaazumo Ziedeng at the Northern Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. Moses Mabengba also asked for forgiveness from anybody that he might have wronged during his turner of office saying: “I might have stepped on your toe due to the position given me. But from now onwards, we’re friends and not enemies”, he beckoned.

Mr. Moses Mabengba also encouraged all the MMDCEs to continue to work hard to bring the needed development to their people and make their districts and for that matter, the region a better place to live and work.

Mr. Bede Ziedeng
On his part, Mr. Ziedeng lauded his predecessor for handing over to him in such a friendly and professional manner. “Under the new Transitional Act, there is a provision for handing over at all levels of government and therefore, I think it’s good that my colleague has respected that provision in the law”, he noted.

He also stated that, he was so happy and delighted to be transferred to the Northern Region by the President of the Republic to serve the people.

Even though a lot of people had expressed misgivings regarding the President’s decision to transfer Mr. Ziedeng who was initially appointed Upper West Regional Minister, he said he was expecting that everybody would work with him to overcome the developmental challenges confronting the region so as to enable the vision of the president come to fruition.

Meanwhile, information reaching this reporter from the grapevine indicated that the outgone Northern Regional Minister Moses Bukari Mabengba was most likely to be given an ambassadorial position in a couple of months time, although the source could not confirm which country he would be appointed to go and work.
