TOP RADIO PRESENTER DONATES TO TAMALE CHILDREN’S HOME

In line with the Biblical statement that, there is more blessing in giving than receiving, a renowned radio presenter and philanthropist, Gideon Kofi Adarkwah, has presented food items and some basic necessities worth over GH¢500.00 to the inmates of the Tamale Children’s Home.

The items which included a maxi bag of rice, detergents, toiletries, clothes, shoes, beverage drinks and among others, were presented to the inmates at a brief ceremony that was graced by the attendance of other radio presenters, musicians, friends and fans of the ace and versatile presenter who hosts the Drive Time Program of Diamond 93.7 FM, a local radio station in Tamale.

Presenting the items to the home, Mr. Adarkwah said he felt the need and later a call from God to do something that people would fairly judge as remarkable by extending support to the less privileged in the society, hence the donation to the Tamale Children’s Home.

Adding that, the opportunity availed itself on his 25th birthday when one of his fans and facebook friends suggested to him to visit inmates of the Tamale Central Prison and Children’s Home.

Mr. Adarkwah said while some of his friends and fans call suggested he organise a get-together or trip to a tourist site for fun, he chose to go by the idea of visiting inmates of the Tamale Children’s Home whom he had heard made clarion calls to the general public to come to their aid.

He called on other philanthropists, corporate institutions and non-governmental organizations to give to the destitute as part of their corporate social responsibility programs, urging his colleague presenters to emulate his gesture rather than spending so much on food and alcoholic drinks during their birthday celebrations.

Receiving the items, Supervisor of the Tamale Children’s Home Augustina Quainoo, commended Gideon Kofi Adarkwah and his friends for their gesture and promised to make judicious use of the items.

She hailed him for coming at a time that the home was seriously faced with financial problems and running out of food meant for feeding the children.

Meanwhile, Alhassan Abdul-Latif, a DJ of Northstar 92.1FM and Events Manager of Creative Multimedia also pledged his outfit’s readiness to give 20% of the gate proceeds to the Tamale Children’s Home anytime an entertainment show was organised.
