The
Chief of Fatigi-To Community in the Wasipe Traditional Area of the North Gonja
District, Fatigi-To Wura Sakibu Issaka Takora I has called on local and foreign
investors to consider moving to the area especially, Fatigi-To and explore the
huge investment potentials.
The North Gonja district capital,
Daboya is endowed with large quantity of salt deposit in the Kajawose side of
the White Volta around the area, which He said could be mined in commercial
quantity to enhance the local and national economy.
Speaking
in an interview with the media in Tamale after His one week visit to the North
Gonja District to assess the various development interventions and
opportunities in the area, the Fatigi-To Wura who was enskinned last year also
called for massive investment in the smock (Fugu) sector in Daboya and its
surrounding communities.
According to Him, Daboya and for that
matter the North Gonja District had the potential to become one of the leading
trade and investment centres in the Northern Region, giving the numerous
tourism and business opportunities available.
Fatigi-To Wura Takora I observed that,
there would be massive employment and economic opportunities for the teeming
unemployed youth in the district, if the salt and the smock industry alone were
to be well developed.
The Chief said that the North Gonja
District was also gifted with vast fertile lands suitable for agricultural
businesses and real estate development among others.
He said that the traditional
authorities in the area were more than prepared to lease any amount of land
required by any investor who wanted to invest in the area.
Fatigi-To
Wura Takora I who is an IT service engineer commended President John Dramani Mahama
for taking the lead to construct the 53 kilometer stretch of road from Bunsunu
through Daboya to Mankarigu to open up the area and also aid investors and
other economic activities.
Government,
he said had also mentioned in the 2016 State of the Nation Address to construct
a modern bridge on the White Volta to link Daboya to Tamale for an accelerated
economic development.
He
also commended the President for constructing one of the 200 Community Day
Senior High Schools in Daboya to enhance quality education and for also
constructing an ultra modern office complex for the North Gonja District Assembly.
The North Gonja District is one of the new districts created by the ruling
government in 2012.
Fatigi-To
Wura Takora I was particularly happy about the way President Mahama had shown
the high interest in promoting the Smock industry in Daboya across the globe.
The Government through the instrumentality of the District Chief Executive,
Soukou Yahuza was also building a modern Smock Weaving Centre in the area with
support from EDAIF to ensure more of the unemployed youth were engaged.
