BUNKPURUGU DCE INVITES MORE INVESTORS

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo District of the Northern Region, Hon. Philip Laari has declared that the Chiefs and people of the area have learnt bitter lessons from the “unwarranted conflicts” that emanated from chieftaincy and land disputes over the years, and had therefore resolved to co-exist peacefully with one another.

According to the DCE, the residents of the area were now yearning for nothing but meaningful development and socio-economic advancement in their lives, and hence appealed to both the local and international investors to come and invest in the district.

Mr. Philip Laari who was condemning a recent negative media report by Joy Fm at news conference which sought to suggest that Bimobas and the Konkombas in the district had armed themselves and were ready to fight over a parcel of land in one of the farming communities, said there was no iota of truth in that report and charged on the media to refrain from always attempting to paint the district black.

He noted that the people had realized that the Bunkpurugu area was seriously lagging behind in term of development and the implementation of the government’s better Ghana agenda, and were now channeling their energies into lucrative activities.

The DCE said that the report was nothing but an “erroneous belief” which was put out there by Joy Fm to divert people’s attention from the positive developments taking place in the district under the better Ghana .

“I am using this platform as the District Chief Executive of Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo to differ from that publication because there was no iota of truth in it” he insisted.

Even though Mr. Laari acknowledged the important role the Ghanaian media in general had played in trying to build a united Ghana- he quickly maintained that much was desired of a cross
section of the media to the profession as a tool to unite the people for development.

“I must say that Joy FM has inspired me and the people of Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo over the years because of their style and nature of news, but we regret to say that we were highly disappointed when their report came out on that subject matter”.

The Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo DCE therefore asked the media to do everything possible to assist the district to attract the needed investors, who could create jobs for the idling youth in the area. Saying, “The devil finds job for the idle hand. But I know if we are able to create more jobs, the youth will not be involved in any needless conflicts like it occurred in the past”.

Mr. Philip Laari who was flanked by the Chief of Nankpanduri, Naa David Kansuk II and Chief of Kpemali, Naa Nimoh demanded an unqualified apology from Joy FM for that report which they described as “misleding” to the listening public.

On their part, the two chiefs pledged their commitment to strengthen the recently built harmonious relations between Bimobas and Konkombas.

“Bimobas and Konkombas have always been one people and we are committed to forge ahead in unity to overcome the numerous development challenges that have engulfed us over the years in our communities,” the two chiefs declared.

They expressed confidence in the DCE and the security agencies and pledged their cooperation to enable them maintain law and order in the area.

They however, appealed to the government to complete the construction of the Walewale-Gambaga-Bunkpurugu road to enhance economic activities of the people. The Chiefs also called for support from government to enhance agricultural activities in the area.
