LEPO GATE UPSET ABOUT NEGATIVE MEDIA REPORTAGE ON LEPOWURA
The Kujolobito family of the Lepo gate in the Kpembe Traditional Area in the East Gonja District of the Northern Region of Ghana, has described as regrettable, attempts by some people to link a recent shooting incident in the area to the Lepowura Alhaji Mohammed Nurudeen Jawula.
According to the family members, any attempt to accuse the Lepowura for any misunderstanding in the area which he had no knowledge of, would be classified as an orchestration to destroy the traditional royal of his hard won reputation.
It would be recalled that on the eve of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) special flagbearership congress a week ago, some media reports said the police in Salaga had arrested Kanakulai-wura Alhaji Tahiru Jawula, the head of the Lepo gate and one Zakaria Alhassan Jawula over a shooting incident which occurred at Salaga, leading to the injury of two people.
The Kanakulai-wura, is the biological brother of the Lepowura M.N.D Jawula, whilst Alhassan Jawula is his direct cousin.
The two had been accused of being the brain behind the shooting incident, which was as a result of an alleged attempt to enskin Mr. Yahaya Issah, the Headmaster of the Islamic Senior Secondary School in Tamale, as the new Chaawura which some concerned youth raised objections because the nominee was not qualified.
It was alleged in the Kpembe Traditional Area, that the top football administrator and politician, Lepowura Jawula, was influencing the overlord of the Kpembe Traditional Area Kpembewura Haruna Kabasigi against Mr. Yahaya Issah.
But the Spokesperson for the Kujolobito family of the Lepo gate, Baba Jawula who spoke to savannahnews in Tamale, said earlier media reports that sought to accuse the Lepowura as the main architect of the shooting incident were completely false because Lepowura M.N.D Jawula had not even visited Kpembe or Salaga for the past months.
The Spokesperson said that the Kujolobito family therefore suspected that the earlier media publication was the machinations of some irresponsible individuals or politicians who wanted to ruin the political ambition of the former President of the Ghana Football Association and owner of football club Guan Stars, formerly known as Lepo Stars.
According to Mr. Baba Jawula, Lepowura M.N.D. Jawula cherished peace and would be the last person to trigger any chieftaincy dispute in his area as a chief saying “the man respects the traditional setup of Kpembe and for that matter the Gonja Kingdom ”.
He also pointed out that the Lepowura had no supremacy over who becomes chief in the Lepo gate because it was the responsibility of the Kanakulai-wura who is the head of the family, to nominate and enskin a Chaawura.
After the Kanakulaiwura, the Dusaiwura is the next person followed by the Bilajaiwura, Injaiwura and Chorwura before the Chaawura and these six royal gates could ascend to the Kpembe skin, Mr. Baba Jawula explained.
